This Privacy Policy describes how Polar Innovation ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Sandman mobile application (the "App"), the dreaminsights.org website (the "Site"), and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you give us
- Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your email (or an Apple-provided private relay address) and, on first sign-in only, your name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and name. We do not receive your password.
- Dream content. Any text, voice transcription, or other content you submit when recording, interpreting, or saving a dream.
- Profile preferences. Onboarding selections (your chosen "guide," motivations, dream-recall frequency, optional personal context block) and Settings preferences.
- Subscription status. When you purchase a subscription, the App Store provides us with your subscription status via Apple's StoreKit and our subscription processor (RevenueCat). We do not receive your full payment information — Apple processes payment.
- Support correspondence. If you contact us, we keep a record of the conversation.
1.2 Information we collect automatically
- Device and usage data. Device type, OS version, app version, IP address (used transiently for delivery; not stored long-term), language, timezone, anonymous device identifier (used to enforce free-tier limits before sign-up).
- Crash and diagnostic data. If enabled in Settings, anonymized crash reports and performance traces.
1.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect precise location data.
- We do not access your contacts, calendars, or photo library unless you explicitly choose to import or attach a file.
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
- We do not use your dream content to train third-party AI models. (See §3 for how dream content is processed.)
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (including interpreting your dreams, generating images, and producing weekly digests).
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Process subscription purchases and entitlements.
- Communicate with you about your account (e.g., password resets, security notices).
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud or abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your dream content for advertising, profile-building outside the App, or sale to third parties.
3. AI Processing of Dream Content
When you submit a dream for interpretation, the dream text is sent to OpenAI's API (and may, in the future, include other AI providers we add) to generate an interpretation, summary, mood, and related artifacts. These third-party providers are bound by their own privacy and data-handling commitments:
- OpenAI: Inputs sent through the OpenAI API are not used to train OpenAI's models by default and are retained only as needed for abuse monitoring and service operations. See openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies.
We pass only the dream content and minimal metadata necessary for interpretation. We do not include your name, email, or other identifying information in these requests.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as follows:
- With service providers that operate parts of our infrastructure under contractual privacy obligations: Supabase (database, authentication), OpenAI (AI processing), RevenueCat (subscription management), Apple (payment, sign-in, crash reporting), Google (sign-in if you choose it), Railway (server hosting).
- For legal reasons if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- In a business transfer (merger, acquisition, sale of assets), subject to the recipient honoring this Privacy Policy.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access your data — visible in the App's journal and Settings.
- Export your data — request a machine-readable export by emailing us (see §10).
- Correct inaccurate data via Settings.
- Delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Delete Account, which permanently removes your authentication record and all stored dreams. This action is immediate and irreversible.
- Opt out of optional analytics in Settings.
Residents of the EEA, UK, California, and other jurisdictions with similar laws have additional rights (data portability, restriction of processing, objection, lodging complaints with a supervisory authority). To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in §10.
6. Data Retention
- Active accounts: We retain your data while your account is active.
- Deleted accounts: When you delete your account, we delete your dreams, usage data, and authentication record from our primary systems immediately. Encrypted backups containing residual data are rotated out within 30 days.
- Inactive accounts: We may delete accounts inactive for 24 consecutive months after sending a notification to the email on file.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest for stored data, access controls, and regular review of our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App and/or by email and update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Sandman App and dreaminsights.org. It is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
